June 24-In Utah This Week: Unexpected discoveries abound at the 2009 Utah Arts Festival

"My earliest memories of the Utah Arts Festival are a blur of brightly colored crafts, the heat and trying to find Ronald McDonald among all the exotic food vendors. If there was art to be seen, which I'm sure there was, I don't remember any of it. Even my memories of visiting the Metropolitan Museum in New York when I was 10 years old are cluttered only with Egyptian artifacts and knights and their weapons of war. The rich selection of paintings and sculpture exist only in memories from subsequent visits. The truth is, despite my love for theatre and music, it wasn't until my late teens when I spent a semester in London that I took a vested interest in the traditional visual arts."
